Dries Mertens is reportedly keen to pen a new deal at Napoli amid rumours connecting him with Arsenal and Chelsea.
The 32-year-old star, who has scored 118 goals in 300 appearances for the Serie A giants, is out of contract at the end of the term and has been free to negotiate with other sides.
Reports earlier this month stated that Arsenal and Chelsea had held discussions with Dries’ entourage ahead of a possible free transfer in the summer.
Mertens has netted nine times across all competitions for Napoli this term – including two goals versus Liverpool in the UCL – and both London clubs are optimistic the Belgian can still produce the goods, on the PL stage.
It’s understood Inter Milan have also shown an interest in Mertens this winter and have held talks with his agent.
However, according to Gianluca Di Marzio, Dries ‘would still like to wear the blue of Napoli’ and an extension of the contract has become a real possibility. seü
