According to various reports, Arsenal star Theo Walcott could be set to leave the North London club this summer. The reports claim both Liverpool and Everton as well as West Ham are interested in signing Theo Walcott from Arsenal this summer.
Theo Walcott was a key member of Arsene Wenger’s squad at the beginning of last season. He in fact had his most productive season as an Arsenal player last season but lost his place in the first team immediately Wenger changed the formation. And with reports linking Arsenal to the signing of Thomas Lemar and Riyad Mahrez, it is very likely that Theo Walcott is now surplus to requirement at Arsenal.
And to be fair, I doubt there are many Arsenal fans who will complain if Theo Walcott is sold. The former Southampton star scores some goals but he is certainly not reliable enough for a team that intends to win the title.
Arsenal are, if I am honest, better off selling him and reinvesting whatever is accrued from his sale into the team. He reportedly earns £140,000 a week and for a player who is not a regular and certainly not reliable enough, that can be better spent elsewhere.
Should Arsenal successfully sign Lemar/Mahrez, Lacazette and should Sanchez stay, there will be absolutely no need for Walcott. My only hope is for Arsenal do do their best to ensure they get at least £25m from his sale. If Nathan Ake is worth £20m, Walcott is worth at least £40m but knowing Arsenal, we will never get that much.
