Arsenal youngster and shock summer signing, Matteo Guendouzi, has praised manager Unai Emery for giving him his breakthrough chance, according to the Express.
The 19-year-old joined the Gunners in a £7 million deal from Ligue 2 side Lorient during the summer and was expected to be on the fringe.
However, he has quickly established himself in the side, starting the games against Manchester City and Chelsea at the beginning of the season and making a total of nine appearances in all competitions so far.
During an interview with former Arsenal and Lorient striker Jeremie Aliadiere, Guendouzi hailed Emery for the confidence the Spaniard placed in him.
“He’s shown plenty of confidence in me since I arrived here,” Guendouzi said.
“Not any coach would throw a 19-year-old youngster into Premier League action, particularly at a club like Arsenal.
