Schalke aborted a swoop for former full-back Sead Kolasinac in the summer because of financial implications, reports in Germany say.
The 26-year-old defender has been in London two seasons after arriving from the Bundesliga outfit, but Schalke were keen on bringing the player back to Germany this summer, claim a German weekly sports magazine SportBild.
The Bosnian star is far from a first-choice under manager Unai Emery, starting two the club’s four EPL games this campaign and Schalke were hoping that the lure of being a regular first-team player would be enough to seal a deal.
