Former Arsenal winger Alex Hleb believes that Chilean Alexis Sanchez could still pen a new contract with the Emirate club.
Alexis Sanchez’’ contract runs out at the end of the season and the expectation is that the Arsenal star will be leaving the North London club.
However, Alex Hleb believes that Sanchez could still pen a new deal once he assesses his transfer options later in January.
Speaking before the Gunners match against Borisov on Thursday night, Alex Hleb told The Independent he thinks Sanchez will wait until January, considering the way Wenger’s team are playing at the moment and maybe sign a new contract at the club. He admitted that Performances like the one against Premier League Champions Chelsea are encouraging.
The Chile international’s intent to leave the Emirates Stadium is undoubtedly related to a lack of major titles since joining the North London club from Barcelona back in 2014.
Finishing outside Premier League’s top four shows the Gunners would not be winning the English Premier League title or the UEFA Champions League any time soon.
However, Sanchez staying at the club for the last year of his deal does give the Gunners the chance to convince him to remain at the club.
