According to the Mirror, Arsenal have upped their interest in Schalke midfielder Leon Goretzka, with the North Londoners sending one of their scouts to Germany to spy on the wonderkid.
The 21 year old, will be a free agent at the end of the season as his current Schalke contract expires next summer according to the Metro, with Arsene Wenger’s team now set to up their chase of the youngster, who was a prominent part of Germany’s FIFA Confederations Cup campaign just this summer, as per Mirror.
The North Londoners have recently sent top scouts to Schalke’s last few Bundesliga games so as to spy on the midfielder, with the Emirate club set to face tough competition from Europe’s elite teams in the race to secure his signature as reported by the Mirror.
The Mirror claim Arsene Wenger has asked one of his top scouts to prepare a detailed report on the starlet, with reports indicating that the player prefers a transfer to either German Bundesliga Champions Bayern Munich or La Liga giant FC Barcelona.
If the Gunners Arsenal manage to beat Bundesliga side Bayern Munich and Barcelona to the signature of Goretzka, it’ll surely show a sign of Premier League title intent, and show to other top teams that Wenger’s men are beginning to mean business.
