Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette scored twice as the Gunners recorded a 2-0 victory over West Bromwich Albion in Monday night’s English Premier League match at the Emirates Stadium.
The Club-record signing scored a goal in either half of the match – including one from the spot – as Wenger’s men moved into seventh in the English Premier League log.
It was not all about Arsenal, however, with the visitors having a big penalty appeal rejected in the early minutes of the game, before missing couple of good chances during an open first half.
Chilean Alexis Sanchez and Frenchman Lacazette both started for the Gunners as Arsene Wenger picked an attacking lineup, but Germany international Mesut Ozil was left on the substitutes bench following a knee injury.
West Brom’s Gareth Barry became the English Premier League’s leading all-time appearance maker on 633 appearances – overtaking former Manchester United star Ryan Giggs in the process.
Oliver Giroud and Mesut Ozil both came off the bench in the closing stages, but aside from a Zhaka effort which he missed, chances were rather few and far between late on as the French man’s double proved the difference between both teams on the night.
The Gunners will now switch their attention to the UEFA Europa League as they travel to BATE Borisov on Thursday.
