Welcome To Emirates? Arsenal Ready To Sign €30m Striker In January

Pietro Pellegri

According to reports, Arsenal are closely watching 16-year-old Genoa striker, Pietro Pellegri, despite missing the opportunity to sign him for €30million in the summer.

Pellegri’s rapid development at Serie A side Genoa has allegedly attracted interests from Premier League giants like Manchester United and Arsenal, with Tuttomercatoweb claiming that Arsenal were scouting the 16-year-old forward during the Serie A team’s match against Chievo Verona this week.

As per Calcio Mercato via Sport Witness there will be an ‘auction’ for the starlet.

However, the stinker is that the Gunners could have signed the teenager for €30million back in the summer; €15million for an initial transfer fee and up to €15m in add ons. The forward almost signed for Serie A side Inter Milan, but the transfer deal fell through so the coast was clear for Arsenal to make a move for a similar fee. Obviously, they did not. Now, he will reportedly cost more given the impressive form he’s currently in.

Despite Pellegri’s age, he has already seal himself in Genoa’s senior team. He’s played two Serie A matches this League season in which he’s netted two goals and played three times last season.

The teenager even featured in Genoa’s final match of the League season against Serie A giant AS Roma and scored.

The Italian has been capped 13 times for his country’s u17s and scored once in the u17 European Championships against Turkey. He has two season left on his current contract.
