According to reports, Everton are planning on renewing their interest in Arsenal forward Olivier Giroud as they prepare a £40million January transfer bid for him.
Having sold Belgium international Romelu Lukaku to Premier League giant Manchester United this summer and failed to sign a perfect replacement, goals have been hard to come by for the Merseysiders this season.
Ronald Koeman’s team have netted just four goals in six matches, and so they are keen on addressing that during the January winter transfer window with more firepower up front.
As per The Mirror, French ace Giroud is back on their wishlist after they failed in their attempt to sign him last month, not really their own fault, but due to circumstances at the Emirates Stadium, and they’re now set to bid £40million to take the France international striker to Merseyside.
The 30-year-old Arsenal ace publicly disclosed his intent to remain at the North London club in the past, but he’ll be willing to feature regularly between now and next summer with a FIFA World Cup spot at stake.
The Frenchman has managed to score one goal in eight fixtures so far this year with limited playing time under his belt, and so despite that love for Wenger’s team, he may well have to seek first team football elsewhere if Everton come back in for his signature and will likely be prepared to make him their main striker.
