Arsenal boss could be charged by FA for this act against Watford

Arsenal tactician Arsene Wenger annoyingly confronted referee Neil Swarbrick in the aftermath of Saturday’s 2-1 loss at Watford.

Standard Sport believes the Gunners manager pursued Swarbrick down the tunnel after the match as the players left the pitch before entering the referees’ changing room with raised voices heard from outside during a heated argument.

Arsene Wenger publicly labelled the decision to award their host a second-half penalty for Bellerin’s challenge on Richarlison as “scandalous” with the FA set to review the event under recently revised Premier League laws allowing retrospective sentence for diving.

However, the Football Association could also examine Arsene Wenger’s behaviour depending on what Referee Swarbrick includes in his report from a hugely humiliating night for Wenger’s men.
There is no rule against coaches entering a referee’s changing room and so the detail Center referee Swarbrick includes will be vital in determining whether the French tactician faces a misconduct charge.

The 67-year-old Frenchman was subjected to shouts of ‘Wenger Out’ as he entered the away team coach following a disappointing loss which leaves the North Londoners nine points behind rivals Manchester City and below fourth-placed side Watford in the English Premier League table.

Welshman Aaron Ramsey and Chilean Alexis Sanchez will be assessed later today after suffering what Arsene Wenger described as “small” hamstring and thigh problem respectively but they are both unlikely to join the traveling party to Serbia for Thursday’s UEFA Europa League match against Red Star Belgrade.
