Premier League giant Arsenal may yet lose Chilean Alexis Sanchez to rivals Manchester City before the end of the campaign, but their position on his exit should have changed a little.
The Gunners were on the verge of sending Chilean forward Alexis Sanchez to Manchester City this past summer transfer window. All that was needed was Thomas Lemar coming in to replace him. It’s interesting to think how things could have been a lot more different had that swap been enacted.
Now, though, it looks as if Manchester City are back in to sign the Chilean in the winter, rather than just waiting to sign him for free next summer.
With January still few months away, the Gunners has time to think things over and evaluate where the squad stands, but even in the two months since the summer window closed, Arsenal’s position on Alexis’s departure should have changed quite a bit.
In short, the side should be a little bit more confident in letting the Chilean leave, even if an immediate counteracting transfer can’t be sealed right away.
Should Arsenal cash in on Sanchez and call on Danny Welbeck, Jack Wilshere and youngster Reiss Nelson to cover until the summer transfer window is reopened, would anyone not be okay with that? Especially with how much England forward Danny Welbeck has impressed before his injury setback and how much hype Jack Wilshere and Nelson share?
