Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has fired a note of warning at players who hope to improve by leaving the North London club.
His remarks were about West Brom defender Kieran Gibbs, but the statement could easily be interpreted as a note of warning to Chile international forward Alexis Sanchez and Germany international midfielder Mesut Ozil who are all expected to leave at the end of the season when their existing contract expires.
Defender Kieran Gibbs, who left the Emirates club for West Brom over the just concluded summer transfer window, said ahead of tonight’s Premier League clash with his former club that he will improve at his new club – the Baggies. But Arsene Wenger disagrees.
Wenger said when you look at the footballers who did well at Arsenal and left the club for greener pastures, you come back to him after.
It is a caution message that the manager will hope is listened to by Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez and all other Arsenal players whose existing Arsenal contracts are running out.
He said he hopes it works out well for them, but that he only focuses on his squad.
