Arsene Wenger’s first-team trained ahead of Tonight’s Carabao Cup clash against Norwich, with some younsters involved.
About 10 young players are in the running to be involved on Tuesday night. Maitland-Niles, Nketiah, Sheaf, Dasilva, Nelson, McGuane and Willock have all played for the senior team at some point this season, and all of them were dropped from the Under-23 and Under-18 games over the last few days.
Also, joining the seven players listed above, who all took part in training on Monday, Chuba Akpom, Macey, and Osei-Tutu could all be in with an opportunity for their first senior game time of the League season, as they too trained with the first team and did not play for the academy side.
It looks like French defender Mathieu Debuchy might finally be getting the opportunity to have a run in the squad, with all the matches going on and Germany defender Shkodran Mustafi and England defender Calum Chambers’ injuries. Colombia goalkeeper David Ospina’s absence could hand Matt Macey a chance to start, unless former Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Čech takes over, as he did against Serbian side Red Star Belgrade.
Aside that, there are no major surprises. The players who started the game against Everton at the Goodison Park were all excluded from first team training on Monday, and are very unlikely to feature in a second match just two days after the game at Merseyside.
