Arsenal tactician Arsene Wenger has slammed Liverpool star Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain after saying that it was more painful to let go of Kieran Gibbs than watching Alex Oxlade Chamberlain leave the Emirates Stadium.
As reported by Liverpool Echo, the England international midfielder refused to pen a new deal with the North London club before making a £40million transfer to Anfield Stadium, rejecting the opportunity to join Premier League, Champions Chelsea.
Arsene Wenger said it was tough seeing an academy graduate go through the door of the Emirates.
“Overall it is very true that with (Kieran) Gibbs it hurt (pains) more than (Alex Oxlade) Chamberlain because he (Kieran Gibbs) had been educated (had childhood) at Arsenal from age 10.”
The 27-year-old former Arsenal star, who has appeared ten times for England, joined West Brom during the summer transfer window after playing making 226 matches since his first senior team start back in 2008, winning three English FA Cups in that time.
England international and Liverpool star Oxlade-Chamberlain has had a below-par start to his career at Merseyside club, Liverpool, losing with the team by 5-0 to Premier League rivals Manchester City before losing to former Premier League Champions Leicester 2-0 in the Carabao Cup in his first full start.
However, the Liverpool star did play in the team’s 3-2 victory over Leicester City on Saturday in the Premier League as Liverpool moved into the top five of the log.
