According to reports in the British media, Arsenal are set to keep German Mesut Ozil at the North London club beyond January – because there is no solid interest in the attacking midfielder.
As per Daily Star, the North London club could be ready to keep hold of the attacker until at least next summer because there has been no solid interest in his services.
The same publication claim the situation could then pave the way for Chile international Alexis Sanchez to leave the Emirates in the January transfer window.
Both stars are out of contract next summer and it remains to be seen if either of the duo will pen new contracts.
Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez were both strongly linked with transfer away from The Emirates Stadium during the summer window, but neither player secured a transfer.
The same report suggests that the Gunners accepted an offer for Alexis Sanchez from rivals Manchester City late in the summer window but Arsenal refused to cash in because manager Arsene Wenger failed to find suitable replacement in time.
The Gunners suffered their third English Premier League loss of the season on Saturday evening when they wasted a one-goal lead to suffer a 2-1 loss to Watford at Vicarage Road.
