Arsenal fear Danny Welbeck could miss the rest of the season following the horrific ankle injury and are destined to enter the transfer market for a replacement.
The England striker received oxygen before being sent off in the goalless draw against 10-man Sporting in the Europa League and was immediately sent to the hospital.
The Daily Mail, claims England international has remained there overnight on Friday and doctors will give the 27-year-old an MRI scan to see if he requires an operation.
The current scenario is not good for the forward, however, and the Gunners are concerned that the forward may have suffered a break, dislocation and ligament damage.
That would mean he will not play this season and potentially cut short his Emirates career early, given that he is out of contract this summer.
The Mail reports that Danny Welbeck’s injury blow could force Arsenal into the transfer market, with Nicolas Pepe their prime target.
‘A preference between Dortmund, Bayern or Arsenal? They’re all big clubs, I was not aware of these rumours, although it’s nice,’ the 23-year-old winger told Telefoot.
The Ivorian forward – who is also being tracked by the likes of Chelsea, Barcelona and Bayern Munich – is expected to command a price tag of around £44 million.
