Premier League giant Arsenal have been handed a major boost in their efforts to tie Germany international Mesut Ozil down to a new contract, after the playmaker’s agent, Dr Erkut Sogut confirmed that the Germany international attacking midfielder wants to play in the English Premier League for two or three more years, according to Turkish Futbol.
The 28-years-old, has been strongly linked with a transfer to Turkish hevyweights Fenerbahce or Beskitas after his deal expires at the end of the campaign, however, Dr. Sogut claimed that his client would love to remain in the English Premier League, boosting Arsenal’s hopes of Mesut Ozil signing a new contract to remain at the Emirates Stadium.
The Arsenal playmaker, who joined the north London club back in 2013, has endured a troubled start to the League season, with a knee problem keeping him out of action for the majority of the campaign so far, and is yet to score a goal or create an assist this season.
Mesut Ozil’s agent Dr. Sogut admitted to the Turkish publication that contract negotiations are underway with the Gunners, saying:
Negotiations with Arsenal are ongoing regarding a new contract, what I [Dr. Sogut] can confirm to you right now is that talks are going well.
