Manchester United supporters were in for quite a surprise when news reports claim that Anthony Martial was being eyed by Barcelona and Arsenal. The France international has come back to his best recently but with manager Jose Mourinho still reluctant to hand him a sure starting place, Spanish la Liga giant FC Barcelona are thought to have taken an interest.
Anthony Martial is also being touted to replace unsettled Alexis Sanchez at the Emirates Stadium, with the forward’s stay at the club looking very bleak.
Despite being behind England international Marcus Rashford in the pecking order at Old Trafford, Anthony Martial, who joined the Red Devils for a fee rising up to £58m, has scored 5 goals and made 6 assists so far this campaign.
Barcelona’s current left-sided alternatives are limited to Denis Suarez and Deulofeu, and that is Anthony Martial’s usual position. Dembele continues to be sidelined for the foreseeable future with a hamstring problem, thus making the Manchester United winger a prime target. However, joining the La Liga giant may not be the best option for the Frenchman.
Anthony Martial does not have Spanish La Liga football experience. Transitioning from one major league to another is a difficult process – even more so when the move happens between English Premier League and Spanish La Liga clubs.
