According to a report by The Sun, Premier League giant Arsenal are considering Manchester United forward Anthony Martial to replace Chilean Alexis Sanchez should the contract rebel leave the Emirates Stadium in the New Year or next summer.
However, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger may be forced to pay a whopping £50million for the Frenchman. Alexis Sanchez could leave the North London club for nothing in eight months when his contract ends, but the Arsenal manager had an opportunity to make £60million out of him back in August to fund a replacement.
Unless Arsene Wenger can cash in on Alexis Sanchez in January for a good figure, they could be down a lot of cash this campaign. The French tactician clearly wants the 28-year-old to stay for the entire season, which means losing him for nothing at the end of his contract. Paying a £50million on top of that for United’s Martial might be a stumbling block.
The 21-year-old forward has impressed for Jose Mourinho’s team early into the campaign but is still not a regular starter. Martial has netted five goals and provided six assists for Manchester United in 2017/18 League season, but has started just one English Premier League match and is being used more frequently in cup games.
