The Premier League side Arsenal look set to miss out on a reported deal to sign Major League Soccer (MLS) outfit Atlanta United midfielder Miguel Almiron, with Newcastle United seemingly closing in on a move.
According to the British daily tabloid newspaper The Daily Mail, Rafa Benitez’s side will hold discussions with the player’s club this week in a bid to finalise a £25 million deal.
The attacking midfielder has been heavily linked with a host of English clubs ahead of the January transfer window.
Arsenal were believed to be frontrunners for his signature earlier in the campaign, but Newcastle United appear to have overtaken them. West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur have previously been credited with an interest.
