Premier League giants Chelsea and Arsenal have handed a transfer boost in race for Paris Saint-Germain superstar Edinson Cavani, as the League 1 champions are reportedly considering selling the South American centre-forward in next summer’s transfer window.
The 29-year-old Cavani, who has long been linked with a move to the Premier League, is understood that he’s running down his contract with the French club, which expires in 2018.
This means Unai Emery’s side may try to cash in on him while they still can, with the reports from Spanish AS claim that clubs could get a boost in their pursuit of him at the end of this season.
Both Premier League clubs Arsenal and Chelsea were linked with the Uruguay international over the summer, though PSG were never likely to sell their hitman after losing Zlatan Ibrahimovic to Manchester United.
Still, Arsene Wenger could remain keen on Edi Cavani due to unresolved issues up front, with Alexis Sanchez filling in there so far this season.
The 27-year-old Chile international is in fairness, adapted well to his new role, but many fans will feel Arsene Wenger needs to bring in the natural centre-forward in attacking area, and bid for Cavani could be ideal.
Antonio Conte’s side are also desperate to add top-class attacking players with recent links to big names such as Antoine Griezmann and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
