“Fans shocked” – Arsenal submit bid for 31-year-old Real Madrid fullback

Arsenal are in the running to sign Marcelo as the Brazilian left-back has asked to leave the club. The 31-year-old has spent 13 seasons at Real Madrid, winning La Liga and the Champions League four times.

But his place under Zinedine Zidane’s is now under threat after Los Blancos completed the signing of French full-back Ferland Mendy in a £47 million deal from Lyon earlier this transfer window.

Marcelo wants to leave Santiago Bernabeu this summer having received multiple offers, and his agent are in talks with the Spanish club’s president Florentino Perez.

Arsenal are among the clubs who have registered their interest in Marcelo, but the north London club face strong competition. Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain and AC Milan have also made the South American aware of their interest, and he is now considering his options.
