Former Gunner Kerrea Gilbert, who played 12 matches for the North London club over a period of five years, has been cleared of attack and rape charge by the Bristol Crown Court.
Gilbert was accused of raping a teenager after a night out with friends in Bristol, as reported by the Daily Mail. However, he denied the rape charges, insisting that it was consensual sex.
The Bristol crown courts found in his favour yesterday Thursday and cleared him of all attack and rape charges.
Kerrea Gilbert’s friend, Nathan Doctrove, was also accused and charged of rape in the same incident on the same night, but he was also cleared of any wrongdoing.
The 30-year-old Gilbert has not played for any football club since he left St Albans City back in 2014, after spending about six months with the team, who are presently in the National League South.
Even that was very different from the beginning of his playing career with Arsenal when he was playing alongside Thierry Henry in 2006.
However, Gilbert’s professional footballer career never really managed to keep on going.
He was loaned out four times in five years with the Gunners and was eventually freed, before signing for Yeovil Town after visa issues with Portland Timbers.
