Arsenal winter signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has reached new levels with his chance conversion rates this year, continuing his fantastic goalscoring form with a brace on Monday.
Just 24 games into his Arsenal career, Aubameyang already has 18 goals (and five assists) for his new club. However, the striker is actually taking fewer shots per 90 minutes than in any calendar year since 2009. The difference is that his conversion rate has never been better.

According to the stats above, the striker has been on a steady upward trend when it comes to his conversion rate overall. There have been some blips, like in 2014, but take any consecutive three-year period and it’s better than the three years before it.
Hopefully, the Gunners are now experiencing his peak, and they’ll continue to do so in the coming seasons.
In all probability, Aubameyang won’t be able to maintain his current levels (31.3%) for another year. Even if he drops back down to just above 20% though, that’s still a lot of goals, especially if his Arsenal teammates can get his shots-per-90 up a bit.
Combining Aubameyang with Alexandre Lacazette, Unai Emery has more than enough firepower in the squad. He just needs to make sure the pair are receiving the ball in dangerous areas regularly.
