We are not far away from the opening of the January transfer window but Arsenal may not be heavily involved in the market as we have a very large squad.
However, Arsene Wenger is expected to offer contract extension to several key players including Santi Cazorla.
The French tactician has revealed that Arsenal will decide the future of the midfield maestro when the market re-opens in January.
The midfielder is out of contract at the end of the season and, considering he’s almost 32 and about to have surgery on an ongoing ankle problem, his future at the club hangs in the balance.
Wenger spoke with the media ahead of our game with West Ham and he revealed that no decision has been made yet but he will consult Santi before any decision is taken.
“We can take this option (to extend his contract),” Wenger said.
“I would like to speak about that with Santi Cazorla before I speak with the press. I haven’t spoken to him. The decision will be taken in January.”
Although Santi is 32 and somewhat injury prone, but his importance for out team cannot be overly emphasized as his absence has affected us.
He should be handed another contract without too much argument.
