“Arsene Wenger wants Kieran Gibbs to stay at Arsenal, amid rumours the 27-year-old is set to leave the club.
The left-back is out of contract in 2018 and it has been reported that talks about a new deal have not even started yet.
That has led to suggestions that the England international could be on his way out, with a string of Premier League clubs monitoring his situation.
But Wenger thinks Gibbs, who has made 220 first-team appearances for the Gunners, should not think about leaving.
When asked for an update on Gibbs’ contract, the manager said: “We cannot make a case of every single contract negotiation.
“But personally I think that Gibbs should stay here.”
