Mesut Ozil has been the most criticized Arsenal player but Pat Nevin makes claim to justify his recent poor performance.
The former Chelsea star player Pat Nevin claims Ozil would play better if Oliver Giroud is the striker up front for Arsenal.
Arsene Wenger has favoured Alexis Sanchez as his main centre-forward for most of the season so far, though Giroud has made a strong case for himself when coming on off the bench.
The France international has had his critics down the years at the Emirates Stadium, but Nevin feels he is under-valued and could be of benefit to other players on the pitch if used more.
The Scot hailed Giroud’s hold-up play, and feels Ozil in particular is someone who could do with his presence in the team.
‘People always have a go at Giroud when he plays in a big game and he’s not holding the ball up,’ Nevin told BBC 5 Live.
‘But he’s pushing everything further forward, he’s heading balls down and people like Ozil get more time on the ball.
‘But you’re too busy having a go at Giroud because he’s not holding the ball up the way you want him to.’
