According to various reports on social media micro blogging network Twitter, Arsenal have reached an agreement for the signing of Algeria and Leicester City star Riyad Mahrez who has in the last few weeks been linked with a move to Arsenal.
The Algerian only recently confirmed he will like to play under Arsene Wenger and if reports are to be believed, he will now have a chance to do so next season after having agreed personal terms with the Gunners.
This report if true could mean that Arsenal have given up hope of signing Thomas Lemar from AS Monaco. It could also mean that Arsenal want both Lemar and Mahrez because Alexis Sanchez is leaving the club. I personally prefer Mahrez over Lemar but certainly won’t want both of them if it means Sanchez is leaving.
We simply can’t be selling our best player. I would rather the club set an example and let Sanchez go on a free transfer at the end of his contract. Selling him right now will only set a bad predecent to other players.
If Sanchez is sold, other Arsenal players will believe they can run down their contracts and force the club to sell them to whereas they want. I don’t mind if we are signing both Lemar and Mahrez because we want to let Walcott go and are preparing for the eventual departure of Sanchez at the end of his contract in 2018 but both coming as replacements will not be taken lightly by the fans.
