Germany international attacker Mesut Ozil is unhappy with Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger over his failure to significantly improve the squad, claims former Arsenal star Robert Pires.
Arsenal broke their club transfer record to bring in France international forward Alexandre Lacazette for £52.7m this summer transfer window, but defender Sead Kolasinac was their only other senior team signing having signed from German Bundesliga side Schalke on a free transfer.
The Gunners summer was also overshadowed by rumour surrounding Chile international forward Alexis Sanchez and German attacker Mesut Ozil as both stars entered the last year of their respective deals.
And now club legend Robert Pires, who still trains with the Gunners first team, has said that Mesut Ozil has grown increasingly frustrated with the Gunners lack of progression.
‘ [Mesut] Ozil is a warrior who wants to win something [titles],’ Robert Pires told SportBild. ‘To me [Pires], he seems so annoyed about the fact that the North Londoner has not put together the side with which he can make a difference.
‘They [Arsenal] only spent money on Alex Lacazette. That’s not enough to compete favourably for the top spots.’
