Arsenal winter signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has said that Henrikh Mkhitaryan was a major factor in his decision to join Arsenal last month.
The Gabon international striker signed for the Gunners on deadline day last month, just days after playmaker Mkhitaryan sealed his switch from Premier League rivals Manchester United as part of the transfer deal which saw Chile star Alexis Sanchez head in the other way.
The duo know themselves pretty well, after having been teammates for a number of years at Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund.
Partnership that works
The two ex-Bundesliga stars combined pretty well as Armenian star Mkhitaryan assisted Aubameyang for his first Gunner goal in the 5-1 demolition of Everton at The Emirates Stadium last weekend.
And the African has now disclosed that the opportunity to line up with the former Manchester United attacking midfielder once again played a huge part in his decision to join the north London side in January.
Both pair will be hoping to play a part for the Gunners when they take on Tottenham Hotspur in their crucial North London derby encounter at Wembley Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Arsene Wenger’s men are currently in sixth position in the Premier League table but know that a victory would move them to just a point behind Tottenham in the table.
