Stuart Pearce believes that while the Gunners could look to sell Germany international Mesut Ozil later in January, they should try and keep Alexis Sanchez.
Stuart Pearce is speaking like there’s still a chance of the Chilean staying in north London. There isn’t a chance. Short of pulling a Diego Costa style, the 28-year-old forward has made it categorically clear that he doesn’t see his play future at the Emirates club and he was angling for a transfer to Manchester City over the summer. He is now playing like he does not care and has been far from the type of player he was last season.
Despite also having under 12 month remaining on his current contract, it was always assumed that the Germany international midfielder was the more likely to stay back out of two contract rebels. However, since the beginning of the League season, talks over a deal extension have halted and speculations linking him with a transfer to Serie A side Inter Milan have started to pop up.
Regardless of if Inter are genuinely trying to sign the German, he has not signed a new deal with the Gunners, which makes us wonder what’s happened to make the playmaker change his mind. During pre-season, he said he wanted to remain at the club.
