Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud is obviously not the most famous or productive stars on Arsenals roster, but he is the eventual winner of the FIFA Puskas Award.
The award honors the most delightful goal of the year, and the France international forward has won due to his scorpion kick against Premier League side Crystal Palace on New Year’s day 2017. He beat Venezuela’s Deyna Castellanos and South African goal keeper Oscarine Masuluke to the award.
Here’s the Frenchman’s goal by the way, football fans would want to watch this goal over and over again:
Upon acceptance of his Puskas award, forward Olivier Giroud said: “First of all I [Giroud] have to say it’s an honor for me [Giroud]. I [Giroud] am glad to receive this award today in front of football legends. Now l [Giroud] would just like to thank the people who voted for me [Giroud]. I [Giroud] would like to congratulate the 10 [other] nominees who scored great goals too.”
“Obviously I [Giroud] would like to thank my teammates [National and Club], without them I [Giroud] could not score maybe this goal, and my family.”
