France international striker Olivier Giroud struck a late winning goal in a 1-0 triumph at Red Star Belgrade to preserve the Gunners unblemished start to their UEFA Europa League Group H campaign.
The striker pounced with a sensational overhead kick in the 87th minute after midfielder Jack Wilshere and Theo Walcott combined pretty well to set up the opportunity in Belgrade.
Giroud produced the match’s only brilliant moment with the inventive overhead kick to hook the ball into the top corner of the net.
The Giroud’s winning goal came just five minutes after Milan Rodic saw a second yellow card for a foul on defender Francis Coquelin.
Arsenal top Group H with nine points, four points ahead of second-placed side BATE Borisov.
This victory was their third in as many UEFA Europa League matches and followed a disappointing English Premier League loss by Watford at the weekend.
