If quotes attributed to Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is anything to go by, Arsenal may have a battle in their hands to stop Jack Wilshere from leaving the club this summer. Wilshere’s future with Arsenal has been in massive doubt and Guardiola has heaped praises on the England international which could be an indication of what to expect in the summer.
The City boss was quoted to have said: “I remember in Barcelona and that year we played Arsenal. He left a massive impression when he came. A high, high level. I know the problem with Jack Wilshere was just the injuries.”
Manchester City travel to play Bournemouth later today and Guardiola could merely be talking about Wilshere because of the clash with his loan club but if it is an indication of what to expect in the summer then it will not be a surprise if Wilshere leaves the club. This is especially as Wilshere himself has not been committal when he has been asked about his Arsenal future in recent times.
Judging by Wilshere’s recent body language and Pep Guardiola’s recent comments one can bet on the Englishman leaving Arsenal should City make a concrete offer for his services. Sites such as https://oddsdigger.com have already been shortening odds on the 25-year-old leaving Arsenal which is quite telling.
There had been calls before the January transfer window closed among the Arsenal fanbase that the club should recall Wilshere from his loan at Bournemouth. This in my opinion is an indication of Wilshere’s importance to the current Arsenal team in the fact of Santi Cazorla’s injury. But can Arsenal manage to stop Manchester City from signing him if they really want to?
Although Arsenal was unable to recall Wilshere from his loan at Bournemouth due to the fact that the club did not include such a clause in his contract when he was leaving the club last summer, it is however believed that he will be useful to Arsenal next season especially as Cazorla seems to be struggling with injuries and is already on the wrong side of 30.
Wilshere when fit is no doubt an important player for Arsenal but knowing Arsenal and how reckless City can be when they are keen on signing a player, it will not be a surprise if a big money offer tempts the Gunners to sanction the transfer of the highly rated Midfielder.
