Arsene Wenger’s hopes of reinforcing his team in January have been boosted by claims that Arsenal are favorites to sign Christopher Rocchia from french Ligue 1 side Marseille.
The French tactician who is believed to be interested on correcting the wrongs of the past transfer windows is believed to be leading the transfer race for the signature of the young left back.
The Arsenal boss is thought to want to change his stance when it comes to transfer policy, Wenger now wants to be rather proactive than reactive during the forth coming transfer window and is thus prepared to delve into the January winter transfer market.
As reported by talkSPORT, Premier League giant Arsenal and German Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund are both interested in signing Marseille’s Christopher Rocchia.
The claim further disclosed various sources in the French media claim Arsenal have been closely watching the teenage defender through scout Gilles Grimaldi.
As per The Mirror, the Emirates Stadium is the defender’s preferred destination over Borussia Dortmund, despite the German side’s record in grooming young talents.
Marseille’s director Andoni Zubizarreta is interested in keeping the player and is trying to offer him a three-year professional contract, but talks have stalled since the summer.
With less than 12 months on his current Marseille deal, Arsene Wenger is however thought to be readying to winter swoop for the talented defender.
