Dortmund star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has said he almost left the German Bundesliga side in the recently shut summer transfer window.
Dortmund forward Aubameyang was apparently very close to a summer transfer than most fans thought. However, unfortunately for Gunner fans, it wasn’t to the North London club, it was Italian Serie A giant AC Milan.
The AAfrican told RMC, and Metro reports “It’s true, AC Milan made contact with me and offered me something (contract,” .
“I (Aubameyang) was interested in their project (plan), but it didn’t materialise for a lot of different reasons.”
Arsenal were strongly linked with the 28-year-old Gabonese after he netted a staggering 40 goals in 46 matches last campaign. Borussia Dortmund were also open to cashing in, as long as it was before they went for pre-season tour in June, and the Arsenal target confessed he was set for a ‘new challenge’.
A transfer to AC Milan obviously never happened but considering the African only has three seasons remaining on his transfer with Borussia Dortmund, you have to imagine that Serie A giant AC Milan, given his interest, could come back for their player.
The forward has managed to net 12 goals in nine matches already this campaign and if it wasn’t for his £70million valuation, perhaps the Gunners would have make a move for him.
