Premier League side Southampton are looking to sign England star Theo Walcott back to the team he started his senior football career during the winter transfer window as per reports.
The Express claim that there are no plans to renew the Arsenal striker’s existing deal, which expires later in 2019 as reported by transfermarkt.co.uk. Arsenal therefore need to cash in on him in the new year, or risk ending up in the same situation as they are with German Mesut Özil and Chilean Alexis Sanchez at the moment.
The Saints would as per reports be keen on a deal for between £12million and £15million for the 28-year-old forward, which would be somewhat reasonable for someone who might only have a little years remaining at the top, and who has not started a league match this season.
Theo’s been in decent form when he has started this campaign. Contrary to previous seasons, when he was seldom accused of having a huge impact from the substitute bench than in the starting lineup, things now look to be the other way around.
In four substitute matches against Leicester City, Stoke, Brighton and Champions Chelsea, Theo Walcott has not contributed to the goals. However, in the three match starts he has been given against German side FC Köln, BATE Borisov and Doncaster, the forward has three goals and one assist.
