Arsenal target Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has disclosed that he almost left German Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund in the summer.
The Dortmund striker was apparently very closer to a summer transfer window move than most football fans thought. However, unfortunately the move wasn’t to Arsenal, it was Serie A club AC Milan.
Arsenal were heavily linked with the 28-year-old forward after he netted a staggering 40 goals in 46 matches last season. The German side were also open to cashing in on him, as long as it was before they pre-season in June, and the forward confessed he was prepared for a ‘new challenge’.
However, the African was instead mulling over a transfer to Milan.
A transfer obviously did not materialised but considering the Gabon international forward only has three years remaining on his current deal with Dortmund, you can imagine that AC Milan, given his interest, could come back for their man.
The forward has managed to net 12 goals in nine matches already this League season and if it wasn’t for his £70million price tag, perhaps the Gunners would have moved for their target.
Aubameyang played for AC Milan when he was way younger between the year 2007 and 2011, so it’s understandable that the striker would want to return at some point in his career. He’s been in Germany four years after joining from Saint-Étienne.
The prolific striker was also linked with Premier League Champions Chelsea and Merseyside club Liverpool as well as Chines Super League over the summer.
