Premier League champions Chelsea have announced the signing of Olivier Giroud from Arsenal.
The France international was linked with a switch to Everton and West Ham last summer window but he opted to remain at The Emirates Stadium instead of leaving.
However, the FIFA Puskas award winner’s head has now been switched by the reigning Premier League champions, who have been looking for a striker all winter transfer window, and they finally have their target. He’ll cost the Blues an initial £15.3million, with £2.2million in add-ons.
This move will complete the three way transfer of Gabonese Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Belgian Michy Batshuayi and Olivier Giroud, with the former African footballer of the year moving to Arsenal on Wednesday morning and his former side looking like replacing him with Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi, who’s replacement is Olivier Giroud from Arsenal.
The France international striker will compete with Spain international striker Alvaro Morata for a starting spot at the Bridge but with Chelsea’s UEFA Champions League knockout games ahead, as well as the remainder of the Emirates FA Cup, both strikers will get a lot of game-time ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Both forwards will be hoping to be on board plane for their respective National teams.
