Arsenal fans want the North London club to sign Schalke’s Leon Goretzka, after he performed well for Germany in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers at the weekend.
Goretzka netted twice for the Germans in a 5-1 victory over Azerbaijan, and it was the first goal that caught the attention of most fans. He picked the ball up in the area, facing away from goal, he had to manage a back-heel to score and he did that impressively.
Leon Goretzka’s second goal was less eye-catching, passing the ball into the back of the net from close range. But that did not stop the hype around the attacking midfielder continuing to build.
Reports recently suggest that the Gunners have sent scouts to monitor the German, as he runs down the last year of his Schalke contract.
fans are therefore beginning to get really excited at the prospect of signing the player to North London, as reported by Football.London.
A notable Arsenal fan even suggested that the midfielder might be the player to replace German Mesut Özil, who is also on the final year of his current contract.
Özil plays a more advanced role for Arsenal, emphasised by the fact he is currently being used as a wide-forward. The a 22-year-old is a central midfielder and only occasionally switched into more of an attacking-midfield position.
