Arsenal’s hopes of landing former Barcelona boss Luis Enrique have been heavily boosted as reports suggest he would prefer the Arsenal job over a switch to City rivals Chelsea.
The Daily Star reports that the Spaniard is keen on the Arsenal job should manager Arsene Wenger leave the side at the end of the current season.
There have been numerous calls for Arsene Wenger to step down as the team continues to struggle domestically.
Luis Enrique had been earmarked as favourite to replace Chelsea boss Antonio Conte, who himself is expected to leave Stamford Bridge at the end of the current season.
The ex-Barcelona manager is thought to be worried about the Blues transfer policy.
Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain are also believed to be interested in the tactician who lifted the UEFA Champions League with FC Barcelona during his time at the Catalan club.
The 46-year-old has been out of work since leaving the Catalan side at the end of last season.
