Arsenal failed in summer attempts to sign €70m-rated Real talent
Arsenal failed with a summer swoop for Vinicius Junior after La Liga giants Real Madrid rebuffed their interest in the South American starlet.
The north Londoners’ new technical director Edu identified the 19-year-old ace as a target over the off-season and tried to use Brazil to his advantage.
However, both Edu and Paris Saint-Germain counterpart Leonardo were informed by Real Madrid that the wonderkid wasn’t up for sale.
Esporte write that Los Blancos ‘immediately blocked’ the Gunners as they sought to sign Vinicius, who has been with the Spanish club since July 2018.
Madrid paid €46 million to bring him in from Flamengo in his native Brazil, the forward penning a pre-contract agreement a year before he joined the La Liga outfit due to international transfer regulations preventing a move before his 18th birthday.
