The countdown has begun for the clash between Arsene Wenger and Jose Mourinho, but Wenger has to break the jinx his rival has over him.
According to Arsenal Legend Paul Merson, Arsene Wenger has started making excuses for his inability to win Manchester United in the build up to the game.
We are currently six points ahead of Manchester United and Wenger has never led Jose Mourinho with this margin after 11 games. Mourinho will be under more pressure as he team may continue to struggle.
Hector Bellerin and Santi Cazorla have been ruled out for several weeks and Alexis Sanchez, who suffered a low grade tear in his hamstring while away with Chile, is a doubt for Saturday.
On the all-important clash, Merson predicted: ‘I think this will be a draw.
‘Arsenal thought they could turn up in February and win, and ended up getting beaten 3-2.’
Merson, who made 327 appearances for Arsenal from 1985 to 1997, believes Wenger is using his row with the Chilean FA over Sanchez as an excuse before the all-important league tie.
He added: ‘Wenger is moaning about Alexis Sanchez and Chile, I think he’s just starting to make excuses already.
‘Really, Arsenal should win this game on form but with Jose Mourinho’s record against Arsenal, I think he has a hold over him.’
