One man who should be present when England take on the US is Arsenal defender Rob Holding – as the pundits suggest. If he does make the squad, it will present quite the turnaround for the former Bolton Wanderers ace.
Arsenal nearly sold the youngster in January, and the Sun claimed Burnley were ready to bring him on loan in January, to a £15 million summer deal.
That never was completed, and the centre-back has gone on to impress new boss Unai Emery.
And the starlet has played in Arsenal’s last six Premier League games. In his last match, against Liverpool at the weekend, he put in a fine display to keep the likes of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane at bay.
Rob Holding has played ten times this season. Arsenal have won eight of those games, drawing two.
The Englishman, who has previously been a part of Gareth Southgate’s under-21 set-up, will certainly feel he deserves a call-up ahead of Brighton’s Lewis Dunk or the out of form James Tarkowski.
